Most women have many questions about breast reduction surgery. It’s natural to be confused about technical terms, concerned about risks and just curious about life after your procedure.
Here are answers to some of the questions Dr. Kaufman hears most often.
Will my nipples have to be removed?
Nipples are never removed and grafted into a new. Rather, Dr. Kaufman uses the pedicle technique, which allows the nipple to be repositioned while remaining attached to its nerve and vascular system. Read more about Dr. Kaufman’s breast reduction techniques.
Will the procedure affect my nipple sensation?
After healing, most women find their nipple sensation unchanged. However, in a small percent of cases, sensation may be reduced.
Does a breast reduction require another procedure?
One surgery will suffice for breast reduction at Kaufman Plastic Surgery in Sacramento. During the planning process, Dr. Kaufman will show you how he plans to address your needs specifically.
Is there any way to know what my scars will be like?
Scars are inherently unpredictable; unfortunately there’s no way to know in advance how yours turn out. For the vast majority of women, scars fade to be quite faint over time and patients normally report that their scars are an acceptable tradeoff for smaller, perkier breasts.
